Long ago, the people of the stone lived in the numerous caves (important for archaeological finds are those of Gray and Valdinferno) of those mountains, then rich in game, including bears, amidst the icy and fish-filled waters of the Tanaro (from a Tyrrhenian root in “ar” = water from the Greek verb “ruo” = to flow).

Today, Garessio is a tranquil place for holidays and vacations, renowned for its beautiful geographical location between the sea and the green mountains, for its ideal climatic conditions, but above all for the famous and very light San Bernardo water.

Like all mountain villages, Garessio maintains a great respect for its traditions. Additionally, this place is characterized by the presence of a ski facility, Ski resort Garessio 2000.
